Josh was born into a Christian home on December 31, 1990. Eventually, because of his mother’s job in the Navy, they moved to Virginia when he was 3 years old. At the age of 4 Josh accepted Christ as his Savior at Sweethaven Baptist Church in Portsmouth VA.
Sarah was born into a Christian home on April 4, 1990. At a young age she professed to be saved, but struggled with doubts for a long time. It was on August 5, 2002 that she truly trusted Christ as her Lord and Savior.
Josh grew up in Christian schools all of his life. In 2009 he graduated from Sweethaven Christian Academy in Portsmouth, Virgina and that fall headed off to Ambassador Baptist college where he graduated in 2013 with a degree in missions.
Sarah was both home schooled as well as Christian schooled throughout her life. She graduated from the Abeka academy for homeschoolers in 2009 and also went to Ambassador Baptist college. She graduated in 2011 with a degree in secretarial ministries.
Josh and Sarah met while freshman at Ambassador Baptist College. The began attending Every Nation Baptist Church together, and from there God blossomed their relationship. May 19, 2012 they were wed and began their lives of ministry together. Their first summer being married they ministered at Camp Deer Lake in Haw River, North Carolina. While Josh was in his senior year at Ambassadors they faithfully served at Every Nation Baptist Church. Sarah worked in the Nursery ministry, sang special music, ministered to Nepali Families, and helped with the deaf ministry. Josh lead the deaf ministry, worked with Nepali refugees, and assisted the pastor in any way possible. After Josh graduated in May 2013 they headed back to Camp Deer Lake to serve another summer. When camp ended they moved back to Josh’s home town of Portsmouth Virginia to begin their deputation ministry.
Sarah grew up in a ministry home as a missionary kid in Spain. After struggling with bitterness towards the ministry, the Lord got a hold of her heart and Sarah began to desire serving the Lord however He would lead.
As a teenager Josh had the opportunity of living in Hawaii and attending Ohana Baptist Church in Honolulu. It was there that he encountered the Chuukese people. While in college the Lord specifically called Josh to go to Chuuk, Micronesia as a missionary.
Once Josh and Sarah move to Chuuk they plan to begin a very dynamic ministry. They will be working under the leadership of Pastor Mike Abbe, a national Chuukese. After learning the culture and language, they plan to move to the outer islands and begin planting churches of their own. Both are burdened for deaf people and plan to begin reaching deaf Chuukese people.
Of Chuuk’s 53,000 people, almost half claim to be Catholic and the other half Mainline Protestant. However, almost all of them hold to at least some of their ancient beliefs such as belief in ghosts and spirits. They continue to be a very superstitious people. It is Josh and Sarah’s burden to reach these lost souls for the Savior.
